Kathy Norwine is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW, LICSW) licensed to practice psychotherapy independently in Virginia, Washington, DC, and New Jersey.  As a psychotherapist currently in private practice in Alexandria, VA, Kathy provides individual, couples and group psychotherapy to a wide range of clients dealing with varied issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, crisis/trauma, PTSD, substance abuse, relational issues, work/career challenges and a myriad of other issues. 

Kathy has extensive experience working with survivors of rape and sexual assault, as well as child sexual abuse, national disaster, crisis, grief, and trauma and has received numerous awards and commendations for her work in these areas, including the DC Rape Crisis Center's Visionary Award for her counseling work with survivors;  recognition from (then) Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld for her work with families who lost loved ones at the 9/11 Pentagon attack; and recognition for her counsel and compassion from the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration for her work in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, after hurricanes Katrina & Rita.
